Jacob Basri is a Brooklyn based theatre director who works on both new plays and classics. He is a co-writer/co-executive producer of the Webseries Footprints in the Sand, a member of the Williamstown Theatre Festival Directing Corps, Lincoln Center Directors Lab, and a 2017/18 New York Community Trust Van Lier Directing Fellow at Playwrights Horizons. He has also served as an improv teacher and assistant director at the Berkeley Rep school of theatre. Directing credits include Hedda Gabler (Sarah Lawrence College), Crimes of the Heart (Downstage Theatre Co.), Monkey (Wow Haus), Sad Americana (The Tank), Many People Believe, The Spy, Hunger, (Williamstown Theater Festival), and various short plays and readings at The PIT, Writopia Play Festival, Tiny Rhino, A.R.T. New York, 7x7’s and Ensemble Studio Theatre. He has enjoyed assisting a number of directors including Lila Neugebauer, Emily Mann (SDCF Directing Observership), David Cromer, Robert O’Hara, Rebecca Taichman and Pam MacKinnon.
